Actually, I didn’t forget! I was in full ‘write’ mode when the hubs said we had to run some errands and that went on all week. UHHHH - I have things to do!
I have a thing - especially since hubs turned diabetic and we have only one truck and it doesn’t always do well - that thing is I don’t like him driving into town alone. We had some great weather and then we didn’t. There’s another reason for my ‘thing’. We had some lovely snow! Then it began to rain. And freeze.
So as a result, I went with the hubs. And I didn’t get to write!
THEN…I started working on a calculator for my website AND a new CRM
Why….why?? do I do everything at once?
The calculator is so you, my very favorite people will have an easy form to fill out when you’re ready to send me your quilt tops! It will have everything I need to know to give you the quote you deserve. I’m really excited about it!
I know the one I have isn’t so terrible. It’s just not as good as the new one will be.
The new one will give you a running tally of your choices and provide a nice email showing your selections.
Hopefully, by the time I write next week’s post, you will see a link for a brand new page on my website.

The CRM? Oooo… that’s another great upgrade!
A customer relationship management system has been an ever-growing part of what I do. The point is to have a place where we can have an easy conversation about what’s going on with your quilt. TEXT! At least, that’s the goal. Be able to present questions and get answers. Plus, the ability to put some photos out there for easy viewability.
My clients will also be able to see the tasks involved and the progress. That may be a bit much for some and that’s okay. I still need the tasks to keep me on track. Clients can see or not as they wish.
This would have been a very handy option when I was making custom quilts. I’m not doing that so much anymore. At least, not until I get more caught up and then settled into our own home.
What else happened this week?
I got some nice pictures of our house in it’s growing up stages
It’s hard to believe how things are moving along! There is still so much to do and it’s slow in the winter, but there is progress nonetheless. We are so lucky to have so many family members with such talent and a desire to get the project done!
Then there were the Eagles I got some shots of…
It’s a bit of a bummer that we have to go to the dump to get these shots. That’s the best place to find these guys when the river is mostly frozen over.
They do hunt small game. Rabbits and squirrels beware! But these Eagles do like to go where the pickings’ are easy.
And not least was the work on this client quilt I was able to squeeze in between everything else.
I cut all the borders, the binding, and the sashing.
Then there was paper piecing a flag.
And drawing out the applique pieces onto the fabric. This is a step I don’t usually do. Mostly because I’ve not created these types of applique on such large blocks.
I thought drawing them out would help in getting the placement for the bits and pieces just right.
ESPECIALLY for the lobster. That guy is going to be fun!
I can’t draw out the island yet. The rest of the quilt has to be assembled first and THEN the island can be placed. The dog is going to be a little tricky, too. There is some layering there.
