In Studio With Carolyn April 2024
They say time flies when you’re having fun.
Here we are in the middle of April. I’ve been steadily moving through the process of releasing a new pattern. Who knew there were so many steps? I knew there was plenty to do, but to get a pattern truly noticed is so intense! Especially, for a kind of nobody such as myself.
I’m happy to be learning so much. Such as…
Maintain an up-to-date list of pattern testers
Maintain blog subscribers
Post on Instagram no less than once a day
Write the pattern
Test the pattern yourself, then write some more
Have an editor look over the pattern - so many times, and rewrite some more
Have the pattern tested, and rewrite some more
blah…blah…blah
If you’re anything like me, you messed this list up entirely. I did everything backward.
Instead of boring you with all of that hoopla. Let’s take a peek at some of the work.
The really fun part!
I had a great time designing this quilt! I wanted it to have great movement and instructions that wouldn’t be scary. I feel that was accomplished. It’s been an adventure and an amazing learning experience. One that I hope to refine.
In my last blog, I talked about some cranky piecing. And I told you I fixed it. See! Now it makes sense!
But that isn’t all there is to this block! It has four parts and with all of those together, you will have a gorgeous addition to any quilt.
This quilt has magic built in!
I hope you will grab this bit of magic and make this quilt for yourself.
Watch for another email a little later this week. There will be a sale on this pattern on April 26th, 2024.
Oh, and watch for the next blog. I get to show off the work of the amazing pattern testers who participated in this quilt pattern.
Please let your friends know two things:

Nearly all my quilts have a story in them. I plan to share as many as I remember with you. The ups the downs the..."whoops! What was I thinking"...moments. As I move along I hope to inspire and encourage your journey in quilts.
I love to hear stories.
Please send me your stories about your quilts or whatever your making. Where the idea started and how it moved from there. And if you want me to, I'll show them off for you. Most of all, let's have fun!
